Mike Tinder is a former Navy Senior Chief Damage Controlman who retired after 21 years on active duty. During his time in the Navy, he served aboard five different ships and completed an assignment as a Navy Basic Training (Boot Camp) Company Commander.
While working on board ship, Mike was a Damage Control expert, directly responsible for training thousands of Sailors in marine fire fighting; damage control; chemical, biological and radiological warfare; and hazardous material response and clean-up. He was also an authority in the operation and maintenance of all installed shipboard firefighting equipment.
Mike has completed training at all of the Navy’s firefighting and damage control schools. He received his significant hands-on experience by working as a marine fire fighter at all levels, from a position as plugman to the significant role as fire marshal on board a nuclear powered aircraft carrier.
Mike and his wife, Phyllis, reside in Brownsville, Washington.
