Publications provide basic information about the college’s instructional programs and services to residents in Kitsap and Mason Counties (the district of Olympic College.) The following are created by the Communications Department and are distributed to the college and the community. Residents may receive these publications by mail or in-person or find online.
Staff from across the college review annually the number of catalogs and quarterly class schedules needed in their areas. Printing is limited to the amount requested but adjustments can be made the following year if requested.
The View (Quarterly Class Schedule)
The View, the quarterly schedule of classes, is coordinated through the Communications Department and is sent to all residents within Kitsap and Mason Counties. The schedule includes classes and content such as registration information and graduation requirements, which are supplied to the Communciations Department by Instructional Services and Student Services. The View complies with state law requirements that Olympic College communicate quarterly with all citizens within its district of Kitsap and Mason Counties.
Catalog
The Olympic College Catalog is printed and distributed annually. The catalog is available in print and online and offers comprehensive information about the college, its programs and services. The catalog is also used to communicate with students, other schools, and agencies and provides information to meet transfer agreements, accreditation standards and other criteria.

Resources
Consistency
All publications (except those intended for classroom use) should maintain graphic/image standards to maintain a professional look. Guidelines are available from the Communications Department and include the use of the Olympic College logo, photos, college colors, font style, and discrimination statement. Whether printed, copied, or electronically presented, college staff who create their own marketing materials in print or on the web can find these requirements and the available resources on the shared network under "Communications Resources."
Templates
To make using the image and graphic standards easier, the Communications Department has put together template resources for college use. The templates are created in Microsoft Publisher and, in collaboration with Duplicating Services, are designed to specifically work with Duplicating printers. Templates are available under the shared network under "Communications Resources." New designs are provided regularly to keep templates interesting and fresh for the public.

Legislative Information
The Communications Department helps the president share basic information about legislation that may impact community and technical colleges. The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) disseminates a variety of information pieces including Legislative News, a weekly newsletter, during the legislative session. Olympic College also participates in the statewide campaign, Creating Opportunities, an informational campaign established by the Trustees’ Association for Community and Technical Colleges (TACTC).
Olympic College participates in several collaborative publication efforts with other community and technical colleges and consortiums with four-year schools.
Media Advertising
Advertising is the purchase of designated space in print, radio, television, signs, or other venue. The Communications Department provides guidance and reviews of paid media advertising for other departments to ensure adherence to graphic and image standards.
Some examples of paid advertising on behalf of Olympic College include advertising in the telephone book yellow page, the annual visitor guides printed by The Kitsap Sun and the Kitsap News Group and some printed supplements that focus on outreach activities in which Olympic College may participate.
Equal Opportunity
As a recipient of state and federal funds, Olympic College must identify all institutional publications in compliance with Title IX (equal opportunity, sex equity requirements), Americans with Disabilities (ADA) recommendations, and Office of Civil Rights (anti-discrimination) laws. Right-to-Know information must be made available as mandated under the federal education act and other requirements as mandated by Congress.
