Recycle Mania Hits Washington Campuses

The tenth annual Recycle Mania competition began January 17, 2010. OC and other college and university recycling programs across the nation will report the amount of waste recycled. At the end, schools with the highest amount of recyclable waste per capita will win prizes.

OC is one of eleven colleges and universities in Washington State to enter in the competition, which has seen a surge of entrants this year. Read More Here

Gates Grant to Help With Housing for Domestic-Violence Victims

OC nursing program students and staff from the Holly Ridge Center help the YWCA of Kitsap County assess children with development issues. This is one of many services offered through a new program to help women and their children escape domestic violence by finding safe housing options and resources. This program recently received a $200,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. Read More Here

Washington State University and Olympic College formally agree to offer a bachelor’s degree in OC’s service area while awaiting approval from the state’s Higher Education Coordinating Board. Classes will begin in August. Read More Here
